Under the Erasmus+ project “Inclusive Tertiary Education in the Western Balkans – IDEA”, IBC-M has commemorated the International Day of Persons with Disabilities in 2021, aiming to raise awareness about disability issues and emphasizing the benefits of an inclusive society.
Representatives of the NGOs that are dedicated to working with people with disabilities, as well as IBC-M staff and students have discussed the challenges which persons with disabilities as the “world’s largest minority” face in all aspects of society. Removing barriers in society, related to education, physical environment, legislation, policy or discrimination, etc. and promoting the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities, the entire community would benefit. The discussion helped to better understand the needs that can be addressed in the future, and the role of IBC-M as the educational institution in inclusive education.
The panel discussion was followed by a signing of the memorandum of understanding between IBC-M and five organizations: HANDICAP Kosovo, OPFAKKOS Mitrovica, HANDIKOS Vushtri, HANDIKOS Mitrovica, and HANDIKOS Prishtina, as a good foundation for further cooperation.
