On 21 March 2024, IBC-M organised a Workshop on the Scientific research project within the research grant supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the Government of Kosovo — Integrated Water Resources Management in Kosovo (IWRM-K) Program, implemented by the Skat Consulting Branch Office in Prishtina.
The workshop took place at the International Public Business College Mitrovica, IBC-M, Riverside campus. Many stakeholders, including local government representatives, SKAT representatives, local NGOs, and IBC-M professors and students, attended the workshop and contributed to the discussion on the environmental issues in Mitrovica.
The Workshop began with the opening remarks from IBC-M Rector Mihone Kerolli Mustafa, who welcomed the participants, presenting an institution, the IBC-M team behind the research work, and the efforts and focus of IBC-M invests in scientific research.
The scientific research topic was “Qualitative and Quantitative Analysis of Ibar River Basin/Mitrovica.” where IBC-M research staff presented the overview on the current environmental situation in Mitrovica, and water, soil and air, assessment and results obtained during the course of research, including the development of a forecasting model using software solutions like Python libraries, Aermod and Statosoft. The research work included topics presented by Prof. Jelena Djokic, PhD, Dean of IBC-M Social Sciences faculty Flamur Abazaj, lecturer Damir Gashi and rector Mihone Kerolli Mustafa, PhD. IBC-M team presented their research work potential of a network of wireless sensors and modern technological advancements, along with traditional water and soil sampling in the laboratories, for more informed, practical, and accessible monitoring solutions for hydrologists, students, environmentalists, researchers, and the Mitrovica community.
