Prof. Asst. Labinot Hajdari represented the Public International Business College Mitrovica (IBCM) at the international conference “International Security Environment in Transition,” hosted by the War Studies University in Warsaw, Poland.
Prof. Hajdari delivered his research presentation titled “Soft Power in Retreat: Geopolitical Competition and Fragile Peace in the Western Balkans.” Speaking in the opening panel, Geopolitical Shifts in a Multipolar World, he addressed how intensified global competition is weakening soft-power influence in the Western Balkans and what this means for the region’s long-term stability.
The conference gathered military strategists, policymakers, intelligence professionals, academics, and representatives of international institutions to examine the rapidly evolving landscape of international security. Discussions focused on how global power shifts, hybrid threats, and non-kinetic forms of conflict are reshaping the international order and demanding new approaches to defense, diplomacy, and strategic planning.
Throughout the program, participants explored the changing nature of warfare, the growing importance of cyber, space, and information domains, and the need for early-warning systems driven by strategic intelligence. Another major theme was the challenge of cognitive and irregular conflict, as well as the broader question of how states and institutions can reform their security sectors to remain resilient in a period of heightened geopolitical rivalry.
Prof. Hajdari’s participation highlights IBCM’s commitment to contributing to international academic dialogue and advancing research on security dynamics in the Western Balkans. His engagement at this conference reinforces the college’s growing presence in debates that shape regional and global policy.
