Yesterday, our IBCM students had an inspiring educational field trip to the Henci Wetland / Ligatina e Hencit, organized in cooperation with EC Ma Ndryshe, to celebrate World Wetlands Day and raise awareness about the importance of protecting natural ecosystems.
The Henci Wetland has been a protected area since 2014, classified as a Special Protection Area for Birds, covering nearly 110 hectares. This unique and valuable ecosystem is home to:
4 species of fish
50 species of vascular plants
2 species of frogs
78 species of birds
Students explored the wetland through:
Thematic lectures on wetlands, biodiversity, and climate change impacts, delivered by Prof. Dr. Ekrem Gjokaj and Prof. Asst. Afete Musliu
Guided nature walks combined with interactive discussions and observations in the field
Discussion on the importance of communities in protecting natural resources and preserving biodiversity
If you want field trips like this and hands-on learning experiences, join the Environmental and Management Technology program at IBCM!
A big thank you to EC Ma Ndryshe for making this meaningful and engaging field trip possible and for their continuous contribution to environmental awareness.
