The Public International Business College Mitrovica (IBCM), represented by Prof. Asst. Bujar Gallopeni (Vice-Rector) and Prof. Asst. Besnik Fetahu and , participated in the Training of Trainers (ToT) held at UCL University College in Vejle, Denmark. The activity formed part of the WB-Edu4Migration project, funded through the Erasmus+ Programme, bringing together institutions from the Western Balkans and the EU to enhance teaching methodologies related to social inclusion and migration.
The training opened with a welcome session and program overview led by UCL’s Social Work Department. Participants were introduced to Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and later engaged in groupwork to apply the method using real cases, followed by reflection and discussion.
In the afternoon, the focus turned to Socratic questioning and debate techniques, where participants practiced structured dialogue methods aimed at enhancing analytical and critical thinking in the teaching process.
The day concluded with the Edu4Migration Project Management Committee (PMC) meeting, where project leaders reviewed progress and upcoming milestones.
Day two centered on scenario-based didactics, delivered by UCL expert Rasmus Leth Vergmann Jørnø. Through guided exercises, participants explored how scenario development can be used in academic environments to strengthen student engagement and applied learning.
A “walk & talk” break created space for informal exchange before groupwork sessions, where participants prepared teaching demonstrations using one of the previously introduced methodologies.
On the final day, 6th-semester Social Work students from UCL joined the program. Partner institutions, including IBCM, facilitated group exercises where students practiced the selected teaching methods. Feedback sessions followed, allowing participants to reflect on their implementation of the new approaches.
The program continued with an insightful lecture from Ms. Razan Haugaard, who shared her personal experience arriving in Denmark as a refugee from Kurdistan. Her story highlighted the critical role of social workers in supporting integration and personal development.
The day concluded with a collective wrap-up on the outcomes of the ToT program and a farewell dinner hosted by UCL.
By participating in this activity, IBCM strengthened its pedagogical capacity, expanded its international academic cooperation, and gained new insights into inclusive, student-centred teaching approaches.
The experience supports IBCM’s strategic commitment to high-quality education aligned with European professional standards.
