The Faculty for Traffic, Communication, and Logistics at Adriatic University in Bar recently hosted its sixth training session for teaching staff from June 10–12, 2024. The event focused on advancing teaching methods and best practices related to the transport of dangerous goods (TDG).
The comprehensive program featured a variety of key topics essential for ensuring safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance in TDG. Highlights included:
- Homologation of motor vehicles and understanding social assurance and tachograph regulations in Montenegro.
- Legal frameworks and preventive measures for transporting dangerous goods.
- Specific insights into the transshipment of Class 5.1 dangerous goods in the Port of Bar.
- Challenges and protocols related to lithium batteries as dangerous goods.
- Development of logistics centers dedicated to TDG.
- Importance of proper packaging for hazardous cargo.
The event also included a presentation of the “Transportation of Dangerous Goods” handbook, a valuable resource aimed at enhancing understanding and teaching on this subject.
Practical Demonstrations and Site Visits
- Participants engaged in hands-on learning through several interactive experiences:
- A visit to the Fire Brigade in Budva, which featured a live demonstration of how to manage accidents involving dangerous goods.
- A tour of the TDG laboratory, showcasing advanced air quality monitoring technology with a simulated pollution source.
- A demonstration by Terra Taxi highlighting the operation and infrastructure of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.
The training concluded with discussions on student enrollment plans and dissemination of mid-term project deliverables.
