The Erasmus+ project, titled PELMOB, is one of 11 projects of the International Business College Mitrovica, granted to IBC-M in a capacity of a partner to the Erasmus+ project as part of 2021 -2027 Erasmus+ calls for Capacity Building in Higher Education. The PELMOB consortium consists of 12 institutions from the Western Balkans and 4 from programme countries. The Western Balkans falls behind in comparison to more developed EU nations in electrical mobility, resulting in a need to receive proper expertise, transfer of knowledge and skills from the programme countries that are far more advanced in technology, education, and industry.

The PELMOB (Partnership for the Promotion and Popularization of Electric Mobility through the Transformation and Modernization of WB HEIs study programs) project centers around the development and implementation of undergraduate or master curricula related to electric mobility in the Western Balkans beneficiary institutions by raising the awareness on the importance of electromobility, ensuring energy stability, preserving the natural environment, and addressing climate-related concerns. By fostering the adoption of electric vehicles and clean energy infrastructure, the PELMOB project aims to address the lack of or insufficient knowledge or an inadequate level of education on the so-called new mobility culture, providing support to the ambitious goals outlined in the development of the European Green Deal, actively contributing to the transition towards a more environmentally-friendly energy landscape, and cleaner energy sources. Within this framework, electromobility has been identified as a critical field warranting further technological advancements, holding immense potential for optimizing the use of resources and promoting sustainable development.

Project summary:  During the last decade, many governments have announced new climate change mitigation commitments that include national or regional commitments to reduce their carbon emissions in the 2025-2035 timeframe. The underlying government planning efforts and national actions do tend to be linked with a major transformation in the transport sector toward advanced efficiency technology with a shift to lower-carbon energy sources. Many governments have announced that their original goals will not be met for a variety of reasons, amongst which one of the most important is the lack of skilled and trained personnel with a sufficient level of knowledge in this area. This project has as a goal modernization of WB HEIs study programs through the introduction of new electric vehicles-related courses at the bachelor and master levels of education in WB HEIs. It will be done through the creation of new or modernization of existing study programs at bachelor/master levels and the creation of awareness-raising hubs within which EM associations will be created. WB HEIs from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Montenegro, and Kosovo will opt, depending on their capacities, whether they will introduce new programs or modernize existing, ones in English or in their native languages. In both cases, the number of new courses, their titles, ECTS, and other characteristics, will be determined in advance. This will include the set up of new laboratories which will enable laboratory practices for students, as well as Electric Mobility Popularization Hubs within WB HEIs. Thus, all partners should select equipment that is adequate for the project’s goals. The project will include partners from the EU, HEIs from all WB countries, and non-academic and associated partners.
