Under the ResearchCult project Work Package 3 it took place a workshop among the project partners to discuss the project activities such as establishment of scientific journals in Kosovo, as well as discussion to define and conceptualize the open access platform for research information, namely the Kosovo Research Information System (KRIS).

The online workshop took place on 24 and 25 of November, bringing together more than 100 participants from Kosovo, Croatia, Italy and Bulgaria. During the two-day workshop our partners  rom Croatia, Italy and Bulgaria shared their experiences in establishment of scientific journals. Participants discussed on the importance of scientific journals for the community combining the experiences and successful stories from each partner country.

During the workshop participants discussed on the establishment of six (6) scientific journals on the following key areas:

1.Environment Energy and Natural Resources

2.Agricultural Production and food safety

3.Medical Research

4.Development of a knowledge-based society

5.Linguistic, Historic and Cultural studies

6.Information and Communication

Participants were divided into six (6) groups and discussed and shared their knowledges and experiences for each particular group and gave recommendations and suggestions on the establishment of six (6) scientific journals.

The workshop outputs from the working groups were first suggestions about the defining the framing the journals in terms of scientific filed focus, interdisciplinarity of journals, joint activities among local and international partners to establish the journals, Editorial Boards, review process, and other issues related to well-functioning of the journals. While for KRIS, best practices from Croatia (Hrcak and Crosby), Italy (IRIS) and Bulgaria (National Reference List) were shared and informed the discussion towards defining the KRIS frame.

All partners and participants were thankful to be part of the workshop and give their contributions, and agreed for further collaborations in the future.
