As Kosovo moves toward a more sustainable energy future, academic institutions are stepping in to equip young professionals with real-world tools to lead that transition. Students from the Environmental and Agricultural Management program at IBCM recently visited Muqa Solar in Suhareka as part of their Renewable Energy and Green Technology courses, turning academic learning into applied experience.
This field visit, led by Prof. Asst. Afete Musliu and Lecturer Damir Gashi, was not just educational—it marked a formal collaboration between IBCM and Muqa Solar. Through the REZEB Project, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed on site, paving the way for seven (7) Master’s students to begin internships with Muqa Solar, one of Kosovo’s most established companies in the renewable energy sector.
“We believe students don’t just need theory—they need to see how systems work in real life, how installations are done, and what sustainable technology looks like day-to-day,” said Xhevat Muqa, founder of Muqa Solar. “We’re proud to open our doors and share that knowledge.”
Muqa Solar has been a key player in introducing photovoltaic systems, thermal solar technology, and EV charging stations in Kosovo. The company brings over a decade of technical expertise to homes, institutions, and industrial settings. Their partnerships with global manufacturers like Fronius and Sonnenkraft allow them to deliver high-performance, cost-effective solar solutions across the country.
The visit included a site tour, a demo installation, and even an invitation to Mr. Muqa’s home to see the integration of solar technology in a residential setting.
“It was inspiring to actually see how everything we’ve learned is applied,” said Blerina Deliu, a 6th semester student. “We got to ask real questions, see real setups, and imagine ourselves in the field. This is exactly what we need.”
With this partnership, IBCM strengthens its mission to connect students directly with industry and to push forward a practical, career-oriented model of education—from theory to practice.
