From November 5–7, 2024, the Public International Business College Mitrovica (IBCM) participated in the DGTRANS project activities in Doboj, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Hosted by the University of East Sarajevo – Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering, the event focused on modernizing curricula and developing training programs for the safe transport of dangerous goods in the Western Balkans.
IBCM staff members, including Professor Milan Veselinović and Dean Jelena Stanojević, played an active role. Mr. Veselinović presented research on global gas distribution markets and shared updates on IBCM’s curriculum modernization efforts. Mrs. Stanojević supported discussions and engaged in professional exchanges with project partners. Networking during the event also strengthened collaborations, including connections with the host university.
The conference, held as part of the agenda, brought together experts and stakeholders to address critical issues in the transport of dangerous goods. Presentations ranged from legislative updates and risk management strategies to innovative models for vehicle safety and parking hazardous materials. Key highlights included a panel discussion on the challenges of transporting dangerous goods, moderated by representatives from the Ministry of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and sessions on integrating environmental concerns into regulatory frameworks, advancements in lithium battery transport, and the use of simulation tools for risk assessment.
IBCM’s involvement shows its dedication to driving improvements in higher education and professional training of individuals involved in the transportation of dangerous goods.
