Today, April 8, 2025, IBCM had the honor of welcoming Captain Laura Eckstein and Captain Gurney Pearsall, Judge Advocates in the U.S. Army, for a special guest lecture held at IBCM
The event was opened by Prof. Dr. Mihone Kerolli Mustafa, Rector of IBCM, and Prof. Dr. Bedri Peci, chair of the IBCM Steering Council, who welcomed the speakers and emphasized the importance of bridging academic learning with real-world global experiences. They both expressed appreciation for the continued collaboration with international partners and the value such lectures bring to IBCM’s academic environment.
Captain Eckstein, with 26 years of legal experience, shared insights from her work in Operational and National Security Law, as well as her role as Foreign Claims Commissioner and Legal Assistance Attorney for U.S. soldiers in Kosovo. She emphasized the importance of U.S. forces in supporting positive relationships and promoting stability in the region.
Captain Pearsall, Command Judge Advocate for Army Support Group – Balkans, followed with a dynamic lecture on the evolving role of legal professionals in military operations. Drawing from his experience at Fort Cavazos, the Pentagon, and Fort Bragg, he discussed topics such as the law of armed conflict and the relationship between legal integrity and mission readiness.
Both speakers also shared their journeys, reflected on their time in Kosovo, and engaged directly with students, offering valuable perspectives on law, leadership, and international cooperation.
