The DGTRANS (Transport of Dangerous Goods – Modernization of Curricula and Development of Trainings for Professionals in the Western Balkans HEIs) project aims to address the risks associated with transporting dangerous goods by road, particularly in Western Balkan (WB) project partner countries. Dangerous goods pose significant threats to human health, animals, and the environment due to their hazardous characteristics, which can lead to fires, explosions, and toxic gas emissions in the event of an accident.

The project’s primary objectives include identifying critical risks associated with transporting dangerous goods according to various regulations and enhancing existing curricula for undergraduate and master’s programs in line with Bologna requirements and national accreditation standards. The updated curricula will focus on provisions related to dangerous goods, transport equipment, and transport operations, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of TDG.

A crucial aspect of the project is the establishment of Training Centers within WB Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), which will modernize existing curricula pertaining to TDG and the handling of DG across all partner institutions. The project will pay special attention to studying the causes of serious accidents involving DG and their consequences on human safety and the environment. The updated curricula will raise students’ awareness of potential dangers while transporting and handling dangerous goods.

In addition to the modernization of curricula, the project will also result in the creation of training centers for safety advisers in TDG and drivers of vehicles involved in TDG. This comprehensive approach aims to diminish risks associated with the transportation of dangerous goods and ensure that all stakeholders are well-prepared to handle such materials in a safe and responsible manner.
